I would vote for one of the engines with the Vortec heads. These came out in marine engines in '98. They derive from the Vortec heads GM put in their autos in '96. the torque will be better (getting out of the hole) & they offer 315 HP. As mentioned by several members a take out ZZ4 cam would be good, the HOT cam is great too but pricey with a spring upgrade and the 1.6 rockers it`s spec`ed for. Another option is the Ram Jet 350 cam. I would use the stock vortec pistons but use a .015 shim head gasket.
